Cassidy Joy, multi-genre vocalist and guitarist, has been a versatile performer, songwriter and collaborator with other artists for many years here in Nevada County. She performs regularly as either a solo artist or with other local favorites including Alex Agar, Karen Woerner, and has also been a featured singer throughout the years with bands including Cousin Cricket, The Rayos, and Objects In The Mirror. In 2016, Joy co-produced and was the lead vocalist at a sold out tribute to Linda Ronstadt at Center for the Arts. Recently she was invited be a vocalist on an upcoming record featuring critically acclaimed violinist David Mansfield, for songwriter Peter Blachley. She is now thrilled to be a full fledged disco queen after joining the Velvet Foxes with Lorraine (Lolo) Gervais and Alvetta Newby-Jones.

Alvetta Newby-Jones is a native of Washington, D.C. As she likes to say, “D.C. born and bred.” She has a lengthy background in musical theater and has been singing professionally for over 25 years. During her time with the funk group, Cherry Royale, she had the opportunity to open for some of the best soul and funk players in the game including Soulive, The New Mastersounds, Orgone and even “The Woo” himself, Mr. Bernie Worrell. Alvetta’s current project, the jazz-soul group FlyTiger, had the honor of performing at WorldFest in Grass Valley, CA this past summer and is gearing up to perform at this year’s Love Walk event on May 9th at the Center for the Arts. Alvetta is overjoyed to be a part of Love Is Love Is Love performing with her “soul sistas”, the Velvet Foxes.

Jazz and R&B singer, Lorraine “Lolo” Gervais is known for her warm and soulful vocals, empowering female presence and fun relationship with her audiences. A favorite on both the local scene (winning Best Performer of Nevada County for 3 years), and when playing venues and festivals up and down the west coast and beyond, Gervais has opened for Mavis Staples, Tower of Power and Charlie Hunter to name just a few. In her lengthy career she’s worn many hats in the music business— bandleader, mentor, producer, performer, but her favorite moments come from creating music onstage with her fellow musicians and making people happy. Her latest collaboration with the Velvet Foxes is the coolest thing that’s happened in 2020 and she’s looking forward to many more disco grooves in the future!
