Lolo Gervais has a well-earned reputation for pushing musical boundaries and playing the unexpected. This award winning and inventive Northern California-based group stirs up a mix of classic modern pop tunes into a Neo Vintage soundtrack from the swinging 1920’s to funky 70’s R&B grooves, while they create uniquely new classics from the songbook of modern pop standards. (Their love for both jazz standards and classic R&B also shines thru as the band regularly plays both of these genres for clubs and parties of all kinds as well).
Playing classics such as Michael Jackson, the Clash or Sting as 1920’s Prohibition Swing, Rhianna and AHA played as more mid-century swing jazz, or creating beautiful new jazz ballads from Boy George or Gloria Gaynor, audiences can enjoy either an intimate jazzy evening or a more partylike atmosphere depending on the setting.
The group is fronted by Lolo herself and pianist Jacob Aginsky with an all star roster of supporting players and most closely resembles Post Modern Jukebox in crossing genre and age demographics.
Lolo (Lorraine) Gervais, jazz and R&B singer, has opened for Mavis Staples, Tower of Power, Rachelle Ferrell, Charlie Hunter, John Hammond and Wesla Whitfield among many others. Her voice has been described as powerful and soulfully sweet while her stage performances are entertaining and heartfelt. In addition to being a life long performer, she is also mentor and guide to younger singers, helping to bring the same level of ease, humor and professionalism to the next generation of performers.
"They took the stage and proceeded to raise the roof! The music they produce is sublime & hilarious, and the performances are full of some serious kickass playing.”

"The jazzy/bluesy stylings of Lolo Gervais and her accomplished sidemen infuses vitality and brings to life songs originally designed for the commercial top 40 market. These new arrangements, greatly enhanced by the adventurous chordal voicings of pianist Jacob ...... strips away the excessive pop dross in the original productions to reveal the core essence of the songs through Lolo's passionate singing. As a genuine chanteuse with impeccable taste, Gervais makes these songs her own, drawing favorable comparisons to Edith Piaf and Josephine Baker but with a very unique and highly soulful take on these modern classics."

A class ensemble, making modern music sound so retro and timeless, maybe even for the better! Definitely a party! Love their creative artistry and the sheer joy and fun coming from lead singer Lorraine Gervais.

"When I discovered Lolo Gervais, I knew I had found the absolutely perfect group. The lead singer, Lorraine Gervais, with her velvety soulful voice and original renditions of songs and Jacob Aginsky on piano -- where did he learn to play like that? Pure entertainment! Anyway I could go on about the other stellar musicians too- magic! Everyone was lined up at the door a half hour before we opened and at the end they made me promise to please, please have Lolo Gervais play again next year… the best party we'd thrown so far!"
